This page lists every cookie and similar technology used on this website, what it is for, and how long it lasts. It covers lightr.ai only; the Lightr application at app.lightr.ai is covered by the Privacy Policy.
Two things are true of everything below. We never use cookies for advertising, and nothing here is shared with advertising networks or used to build audiences.
Used without asking
These are set because the site cannot do what you asked of it otherwise. They hold a preference or a choice you made, never a profile.
| Name | Kind | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
lightr_locale | Cookie | Remembers the language you picked, so the site keeps using it | 1 year |
lightr_lang_prompt | Cookie | Remembers that you dismissed the “read this page in…” suggestion, so it stops asking | 1 year |
lightr_referral | Cookie | Remembers a referral code from the link you arrived on, so the referrer is credited if you sign up later | 1 year |
lightr_cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so you are asked once | Until you clear it |
lightr.preview.visitorId | Local storage | A random identifier that ties together the steps of a single instant-analysis run, so we can see where the flow breaks | Until you clear it |
The identifier in the last row is randomly generated. It is not linked to an account, a name, or an email address, and it carries nothing you typed.
Audience measurement that needs no permission
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are read and where visitors arrive from. It sets no cookie and stores nothing at all on your device, so there is nothing for you to consent to and no banner stands between you and the page. It runs for every visitor, including anyone who refuses the cookies below.
Analytics cookies, only if you accept
We also use Google Analytics 4 for a more detailed view: how people move through the site, which paths lead somewhere, where they give up.
When you first arrive, analytics storage is refused on your behalf. Google receives an anonymous, non-persistent signal with no cookie and no identifier attached to you. A banner then asks whether you accept analytics cookies.
If you accept, these are placed:
| Name | Kind | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie (Google) | Distinguishes one visitor from another | Up to 2 years, set by Google |
_ga_<property id> | Cookie (Google) | Keeps track of the current session | Up to 2 years, set by Google |
If you refuse, nothing is placed. Measurement carries on exactly as it did before you answered: anonymous, cookieless, with no identifier. Refusing costs you nothing, and every part of the site works the same either way.
Google’s advertising features are switched off on our property. This data is never used to personalise ads, to build advertising audiences, or to follow you onto other websites, whichever answer you give.
Changing your mind
Choose Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page to reopen the banner and change your answer. Withdrawing is a single click, exactly like accepting, and it takes effect immediately.
You can also delete cookies and local storage at any time from your browser’s settings. That clears everything listed on this page, including your language preference, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
